Expanding Our Healing Approaches: EMDR Therapy Coming Soon
Strengthening trauma-informed care for Kingfisher and other Oklahoma communities through specialized, evidence-based training.
At Pirtle Counseling LLC, continuous growth and clinical education are at the heart of delivering exceptional mental health care. I am pleased to share that in October, I will begin specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, with full clinical certification anticipated shortly thereafter.
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, clinically proven therapy designed to help the brain process unhealed emotional wounds. When a traumatic or overwhelming event occurs, the brain can struggle to process information normally, leaving memories "frozen" alongside original thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations.
Through bilateral stimulation (such as side-to-side eye movements or rhythmic tapping), EMDR helps reactivate the brain's natural healing mechanism, allowing you to reprocess difficult memories in a safe, controlled environment. The goal isn't to forget what happened, but to change how those memories impact your daily life today.
How EMDR Helps with Trauma, Anxiety, and Other Struggles?
EMDR is widely recognized for its effectiveness in treating:
Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
Anxiety, panic, and phobias
Grief and significant life transitions
Distressing memories and chronic stress
Negative self-beliefs and low self-esteem
What to Expect During an EMDR Session
As EMDR is integrated into the practice following October's training, clients will have access to a structured, compassionate framework tailored to individual needs—combining traditional therapeutic approaches with advanced trauma-focused techniques.
